Government ensures hospital emergency services continue during extended holidays
During this extended holiday period, in accordance with the President’s directive, the Government will ensure that the Health Ministry’s hospitals continue to operate for emergency procedures. For instance, stroke patients entering the emergency department must have access to fully operational facilities.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Government has confirmed that during the extended holiday period surrounding Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi, hospitals under the Health Ministry will continue to provide emergency services. On 20-23 March, service schedules will be adjusted to focus exclusively on emergency care.
“During this extended holiday, in accordance with the President’s directive, services will continue to operate for emergency procedures. For example, if someone suffers a stroke and enters the emergency department, that department must be operational,” said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in Jakarta on Monday.
On 20-23 March, the Health Minister explained, schedules will be reorganised so that procedures during this period focus on emergency care. Meanwhile, elective or routine procedures will be rescheduled for other days. For example, he continued, cancer patients requiring 25 radiation sessions per week would be accommodated on alternative dates.
During a joint inspection by the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB) at Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Health Minister Budi stated that approximately 40 vertical hospitals have been placed on standby to provide these services during the extended holiday.
On the same occasion, PAN-RB Minister Rini Widyantini emphasised that healthcare is an essential service. Therefore, the ministry is ensuring that these services continue to operate so that the public need not worry.
She noted that Dharmais Cancer Hospital serves many patients and the hospital has introduced various innovations to improve services, such as online queuing systems. Rini expressed hope that services would continue to be enhanced and applied across other hospitals.
The PAN-RB Minister commended the Health Ministry and Dharmais Cancer Hospital for their dedication in continuing to serve public health during the holidays.
“The public can provide service satisfaction surveys from this hospital. This can be done through lapor.go.id or SKM, we have a barcode,” said Rini Widyantini.
