Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has ensured that supplies of fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and electricity in Sulawesi are sufficient to support public activities throughout the exodus and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

This was conveyed when the National Coordination Team of the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sector conducted direct inspections of several energy infrastructure facilities in Makassar City on Friday, 13 March.

According to a written statement from the Ministry of ESDM received in Jakarta on Sunday, the inspection by the team was led by Special Staff to the ESDM Minister for Investment and Economic Affairs Muhammad Mahmud Azhar Lubis, representing the Deputy Minister of ESDM, together with Committee Members of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) Harya Adityawarman and Hasbi Anshory.

“We have checked that fuel and LPG supplies are sufficient. There is nothing to worry about. We came together with BPH Migas, from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, from Pertamina Patra Niaga, from the National Energy Council, so we have everyone here to ensure that our brothers’ and sisters’ needs during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah can be carried out well,” said Lubis.

He also appealed to the public not to make excessive purchases or hoard fuel.

According to him, energy stocks remain secure because supplies from transport vessels arrive regularly and continuously, so the condition of national energy, including in Sulawesi, is in a safe status.

On the same occasion, BPH Migas Committee Member Harya Adityawarman explained that the monitoring conducted was focused on the readiness of fuel and LPG distribution in the Sulawesi region.

“One important focal point that is of concern is the Integrated Terminal Makassar, which serves as an energy distribution centre for South Sulawesi and surrounding areas. For this reason, BPH Migas together with the Ministry of ESDM and the National Energy Council conducted a working visit to the Integrated Terminal Makassar as part of the National Coordination in the ESDM sector,” said the man often called Didit.

According to him, the visit is part of government supervision to ensure the energy distribution system runs smoothly during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.

“The government wants to ensure the entire energy supply chain is maintained so that public needs can be met without obstacles. Ensuring the distribution of fuel and LPG during the RAFI period in 2026 runs smoothly,” he said.

Meanwhile, BPH Migas Committee Member Hasbi Anshory said that facilities at several fuel stations in Makassar are also monitored directly to ensure service to the public runs according to standards.

“Today we visited fuel stations in Makassar City to ensure fuel stocks are safe, we also conducted calibration and quality testing of fuel and Alhamdulillah everything is in accordance with the quality and applicable regulations,” he said.

In addition to the oil and gas sector, monitoring of electricity supply readiness in the Sulawesi region was also conducted at the PLN Load Dispatch Unit (UP2B) Makassar facility. Hasbi explained that PT PLN is committed to maintaining electricity reliability during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H period.

“BPH Migas fully supports PLN’s readiness in maintaining stable electricity supply. We have inspected directly and seen that the electrical system in Sulawesi, particularly in South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi, has more than sufficient power reserves, so the public can worship peacefully without worrying about supply disruptions,” he said.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Marketing Director Alimuddin Baso emphasised that his company has conducted intensive checks at integrated terminals to ensure fuel and LPG stocks remain adequate during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.
