The government will implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy to save fuel consumption due to the Middle East conflict. However, the policy will be exempted for the service sector up to industry.

“And I need to clarify that the policy will apply to certain sectors. So as not to be misunderstood, for example, service sectors, industrial sectors, trade, of course, may not be part of those policies,” said Cabinet Secretary Prasetyo Hadi to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Saturday (21/3/2026).

Pras stated that the technical aspects of WFH are still being refined at this time. He requested time before it is announced to the public.

“That’s why we need time to finalise it,” he said.

Pras emphasised that the introduction of this WFH policy does not mean there are problems with fuel stocks in Indonesia. According to him, this momentum is an opportunity to self-correct and prepare more effective steps for the future.

“Fuel supplies are safe. But we want to make this momentum part of our self-correction, self-improvement, and self-efficiency,” he stated.

Furthermore, Pras stressed that the WFH policy will be finalised and announced to the public.

“Perhaps in the near future, the policy formulation will be finalised and conveyed to the public. Regarding what was mentioned earlier, that is one form that may be implemented for work from home, at least one day in one week,” he said.
