Government closely monitors condition of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
Jakarta – The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, is closely monitoring the condition of Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia following the escalation of security concerns in the Middle East region, which has affected several flights to and from the country.
Puji Raharjo, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Services at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, stated that the ministry continues to monitor developments in the situation carefully.
“We urge all pilgrims not to panic. Remain calm and continue coordinating with their respective Umrah Travel Organisers (PPIU) to obtain official and up-to-date information,” Raharjo said in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to reports through the Computerised System for Hajj and Special Umrah Management (SISKOPATUH), approximately 58,873 Indonesian umrah pilgrims remain in Saudi Arabia. The Government ensures pilgrims are monitored through intensive coordination with Indonesian diplomatic missions and local authorities.
He stated that the security escalation in the Middle East region has also affected the operational activities of several airlines. Several carriers have reportedly made route changes and schedule delays as precautionary measures in response to regional dynamics.
Raharjo requested all UPPIs to establish active communication with the Hajj Affairs Office (KUH), the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Jeddah, and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Riyadh to ensure every development can be addressed quickly and appropriately.
“The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah continues to coordinate with relevant agencies, both domestically and in Saudi Arabia, to ensure the security and safety of Indonesian pilgrims remains the top priority,” he said.
The Government is committed to providing maximum protection to pilgrims and ensuring all policy adjustments are made with careful consideration of safety, security, and comfort aspects.
