Government Claims Ride-hailing Driver Holiday Bonus Doubled, Association Demands IDR 1.2 Million per Driver

Jakarta — The government has claimed that the holiday bonus (BHR) for online ride-hailing (ojol) drivers this year will be doubled. It is estimated that approximately 850,000 ride-hailing drivers will receive the BHR this year.

Raden Igun Wicaksono, chairman of the Association of Garda Indonesia Ride-hailing Drivers, appreciated the government’s continued efforts to provide BHR to ride-hailing drivers. However, he argued that the doubling of the BHR compared to last year remains inadequate.

“In 2025, the majority of ride-hailing drivers received only IDR 50,000 in BHR. Then the information is that the 2026 BHR will be doubled to IDR 100,000,” he said when contacted by Republika on Tuesday (3 March 2026).

According to him, this figure remains far from acceptable, and is relatively inhumane. He believes that providing BHR with a value of only approximately IDR 100,000 only demeans the ride-hailing drivers who have worked tirelessly without regard to time.

“It is inhumane and demeaning to ride-hailing drivers if the BHR is only IDR 100,000,” he said.

Igun believes that an appropriate BHR amount for ride-hailing drivers should be IDR 1.2 million. He stated that whilst this figure is not entirely ideal, it is relatively better compared to merely IDR 100,000.

“IDR 1.2 million BHR is very relevant and a reasonable value that should be provided by ride-hailing applications to their driver partners,” he said.

“We emphasise that the 2026 BHR should be valued at IDR 1.2 million per driver partner, as they will be celebrating the holiday to meet their family needs,” added Igun.
