Government Approves Rp 100.1 Trillion Post-Disaster Rehabilitation Budget for Sumatra Over Three Years
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government has approved a total budget of Rp 100.1 trillion for post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-rekon) across three provinces in Sumatra.
The confirmation was provided by Tito Karnavian, head of the government-led Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force for Sumatra, following a coordination meeting with the House of Representatives’ Post-Disaster Recovery Task Force, chaired by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday (25 May 2026).
“The total budget we proposed has, thankfully, been approved at government level, and we reported this to the House of Representatives’ Task Force chaired by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who also expressed support. The amount is Rp 100.166 trillion over three years,” Tito Karnavian said on Monday.
For 2026, Rp 38.9 trillion is allocated, followed by Rp 32.9 trillion in 2027, and Rp 28.2 trillion in 2028.
According to Tito, the budget will be distributed among relevant ministries and agencies.
The infrastructure sector under the Ministry of Public Works (PU) will receive the largest share to accelerate physical recovery in disaster-affected areas.
“Indeed, infrastructure under the Ministry of Public Works is the largest portion, totalling approximately Rp 69 trillion over three years, with Rp 22 trillion allocated this year,” Tito explained.
In addition to the Ministry of Public Works, the government has allocated Rp 7.4 trillion over two years for permanent housing (huntap) construction through the Ministry of Housing and Settlement (PKP).
In addition to central government funds, Tito added that the President previously approved an additional Rp 10.6 trillion in Local Government Transfer Funds (TKD) in January for the three affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
“We are also overseeing this from the government task force to ensure the Rp 10.6 trillion is used by local governments for their respective disaster management efforts within their capabilities,” he said.
