Government Allocates Rp100 Trillion for 11,512 Post-Disaster Projects in Sumatra
The government has prepared 11,512 post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programs in Sumatra with a total budget of Rp100.1 trillion until 2028. Chairman of the Government’s Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force, Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, stated that all programs include the construction of basic infrastructure and resettlement of affected communities. “The total budget we proposed has been approved by the government and reported to the DPR RI Task Force led by Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, and has also received support, amounting to Rp100.166 trillion over three years,” Tito said at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex on Monday, 25 May 2026.
According to Tito, the rehabilitation and reconstruction programs will be implemented in phases from 2026 to 2028. He explained that the thousands of programs include road and bridge construction, schools, healthcare facilities, and permanent housing for disaster-affected communities. All projects will follow the Master Plan (Renduk) developed and approved by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).
Tito stated that the infrastructure sector received the largest allocation in the program. The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has been allocated approximately Rp69 trillion over three years. “Infrastructure is indeed the largest sector, under the Ministry of Public Works. The total allocation is around Rp69 trillion over three years, with Rp22 trillion this year,” he said.
Additionally, the government has allocated Rp7.4 trillion over two years through the Ministry of Housing and Settlement (PKP) for permanent housing construction. In addition to central government funds, the government has previously approved an additional Rp10.6 trillion in Regional Transfer Funds (TKD) for the three affected provinces: Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. “This is also being monitored by the government task force to ensure the Rp10.6 trillion is used by local governments for handling their respective areas within their capabilities,” Tito said.
