Government accelerates commercialisation of food and energy research amid geopolitical challenges
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto announced that the government requires accelerated utilisation of research findings to respond to increasingly complex global dynamics.
Speaking upon arrival at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, Brian stated that a key focus area is how research findings from higher education institutions can be promptly applied to strengthen national food security and energy resilience.
“This is particularly concerning research results that can be immediately used to support food security and energy resilience,” Brian said when asked about topics being discussed with President Prabowo Subianto during the meeting.
Brian explained that the global geopolitical situation has potential implications for various strategic sectors, including food and energy.
Consequently, the government is pushing for research results produced by researchers and academics on campuses to accelerate their commercialisation and implementation processes.
According to him, various innovations emerging from university research have significant potential to address these challenges, particularly in increasing food productivity and improving energy efficiency.
“We hope that colleagues on campuses who have research results will genuinely be encouraged quickly for food and energy security,” he stated.
He indicated that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology will continue discussing concrete steps that can be taken to accelerate the utilisation of this research.
The government, Brian said, will continue coordinating with various parties so that relevant research findings can be promptly applied to strengthen national resilience amid global dynamics.
Also attending the meeting were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Pindad Chief Executive Officer Sigit P. Santosa.
