Gorontalo City, Kominfotik — The Secretary of Gorontalo Province, Sofian Ibrahim, has invited all members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) Gorontalo to actively seize the strategic investment opportunities currently available, ranging from integrated chicken downstreaming to the development of the Red White Fishermen’s Village. Sofian conveyed this while representing the Governor of Gorontalo at the opening of the Regional Business Forum (Forbisda) of the HIPMI Gorontalo Regional Leadership Council for the 2025–2028 term, held at the Azlea Convention Center on Monday (11/05/2026).

Sofian encouraged young entrepreneurs not to miss out on these two strategic investment programmes. The integrated chicken downstreaming programme includes the construction of two feed mills, cold storage, a poultry slaughterhouse, and the provision of day-old chicks (DOC) with a production capacity of 20,000 tonnes and an investment value exceeding Rp3 trillion. Meanwhile, the Red White Fishermen’s Village will be built at 76 locations across Gorontalo this year with an investment of Rp1.4 trillion.

“Do not miss out, as the investments are substantial. This is an opportunity that HIPMI Gorontalo must seize,” he emphasised.

In addition to these two programmes, Sofian also highlighted other opportunities that have not yet been optimally utilised. Cargo aircraft that routinely transport 5 to 15 tonnes of online order goods to Gorontalo always return empty. He urged HIPMI to start filling that empty capacity with the region’s flagship products, as has been done by businesses in Central Sulawesi with fish and fruit commodities.

This encouragement comes amid Gorontalo’s encouraging economic growth. In the first quarter of 2026, Gorontalo’s economy grew by 7.68 per cent, surpassing the national growth of 5.4 per cent. The trade and transportation sectors were the main drivers outside of mining, and Sofian believes many other sectors will grow along with the continuous influx of investments into the region.

Sofian also touched on the employment situation that still needs improvement. Of around 900,000 workers in Gorontalo, 61 per cent are still in the informal sector. He hopes that the influx of new investments driven by HIPMI can be a concrete step to shift informal workers to the formal sector, while also increasing regional productivity.

Sofian expressed hope that HIPMI Gorontalo will continue to hold similar activities in the future. He views Forbisda as a tangible contribution from young entrepreneurs in supporting the Golden Gorontalo 2045 vision, built on three main transformations: social, governance, and economic.

The Forbisda event was also attended by the Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Gorontalo Province, the Chairman of the Gorontalo City and Regency DPRD, representatives from the HIPMI Central Executive Board, and HIPMI officials from all districts/cities in Gorontalo.
