Google releases Gemini app specifically for Mac
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Google is expanding the reach of its artificial intelligence service by introducing a Gemini app specifically for Mac on Wednesday (15/4), one day after releasing the Gemini app for Windows. According to an Engadget report on Wednesday (15/4), Google states that the Gemini app for macOS delivers a “native desktop experience” accessible to users via keyboard shortcuts. Users can automatically open a mini chat by pressing option and space, and press the combination of option, shift, and space to open the full Gemini chat. Users can customise these shortcuts in the app settings. Additionally, users can share anything on their screen, including files stored in the system, with the chatbot and ask questions about anything they see. This can include anything from images to documents, and data to code. There is also an option to share a full web page with Gemini, not just what is on the user’s screen. Gemini is available on Mac devices running at least macOS 15 (macOS Sequoia) or newer operating systems in all countries and languages that support Gemini. “We are building the foundation for a truly personal, proactive, and reliable desktop assistant, with more news to share in the coming months,” wrote Michael Friedman, group product manager for the Gemini app, in a blog post. Google’s step to introduce a dedicated Gemini app for Mac is considered interesting, given the long-delayed generative AI update for Siri from Apple, which may be launched in June at WWDC. Apple’s updated chatbot, planned for deep integration with macOS apps, is powered by Gemini models.
