Google Attracts 25 Million New Paying Customers in the First Quarter of 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Technology company Google successfully attracted 25 million new paying customers in the first quarter of 2026, according to an announcement from its parent company, Alphabet, in its first-quarter earnings report on Wednesday (29/4).
TechCrunch reported on Wednesday (29/4) that, according to its parent company, Google now has a total of 350 million paying customers across all its services, up from 325 million customers in the fourth quarter of 2025.
According to the company, YouTube and Google One—a subscription cloud storage service—were the drivers of Google’s customer growth in the first quarter of 2026.
The company’s earnings report did not highlight the number of Gemini customers or its monthly active users. However, access to advanced Gemini features is now included in the Google One package.
The Gemini chatbot has more than 750 million users, according to the company’s report from the previous quarter.
As Google promotes ad-free viewing as part of the YouTube Premium subscription package, the video service experienced a decline in ad revenue, which has worried investors.
According to a CNBC report, Wall Street had forecasted that Alphabet would generate $9.99 billion in YouTube ad revenue for the first quarter of 2026, but the company actually generated $9.88 billion.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai had warned analysts in the previous quarter that investors should evaluate YouTube’s business going forward based on a combination of advertising and subscriptions.
Otherwise, the shift of users to the YouTube subscription package would appear to negatively impact ad revenue.
YouTube’s annual revenue last year reached more than $60 billion, derived from advertising and subscriptions.
YouTube ad revenue in the fourth quarter of 2025 reached $11.4 billion, and in the first quarter of 2026, it was recorded at $9.9 billion, an 11% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
