Golkar Urges Cadres to Remain Calm and Patient in Responding to Nus Kei's Stabbing
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Golkar Party has instructed all its cadres to remain calm following the stabbing case that killed Nus Kei, the Chairman of the Golkar Southeast Maluku Regional Leadership Council (DPD). “All cadres are expected to remain calm, stay patient, and leave it to the applicable legal provisions,” said Deputy General Chairman of the Golkar Party Central Executive Board (DPP), Ace Hasan Syadzily, at the Golkar DPP Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/4/2026). He also expressed deep condolences over the incident. He emphasised that the party is fully entrusting the handling of this case to law enforcement authorities. “In principle, we are deeply saddened and express profound condolences over the death of the Chairman of the Golkar Southeast Maluku DPD,” Ace stated. “Because the chairman has passed away, the Maluku Provincial DPD will later appoint an acting head (Plt) and as soon as possible carry out the regional deliberation,” he explained. He added that this step is necessary to keep the situation conducive and allow the Southeast Maluku Regional Deliberation (Musda) to proceed as planned. The incident began when Nus Kei arrived at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport on Sunday afternoon around 11:10 WIT from Pattimura International Airport in Ambon, Maluku, to attend the Golkar Musda. Upon reaching the airport exit to meet his family, Nus Kei was immediately stabbed by an unknown person (OTK). The OTK was a man wearing a red jacket and a mask. After that, Nus Kei ran back into the airport but fell and received assistance from on-site officers. Nus Kei was then rushed to Karel Sadsuitubun Hospital for medical treatment. Nus Kei was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital due to severe bleeding and injuries to vital organs. The Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Provincial Police, Senior Commissioner Rositah Umasugi, revealed that the motive behind the stabbing of Nus Kei was revenge. “Based on the perpetrator’s confession, the perpetrator’s motive was revenge,” said Rositah to reporters on Monday (20/4/2026). “The two perpetrators sought revenge because the victim, Nus Kei, was the mastermind behind the murder of the siblings’ brother named Fenansius Wadanubun alias Dani Hoat,” Rositah stated.
