Golkar: Prabowo-Bahlil Work Tirelessly to Ensure Indonesia Safe from Energy Crisis
Golkar Party Secretary-General Muhammad Sarmuji stated that President Prabowo Subianto, along with his ministerial team, is working tirelessly to ensure the country’s energy supply remains secure amid uncertain geopolitical conditions. Sarmuji noted that the conflict in the Middle East involving the United States (US)-Israel and Iran has had a significant impact on the global energy market.
“We are facing a global situation that is not easy. The geopolitical conflict in the Middle East has triggered major shocks in the world energy market. In such conditions, President Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia are truly working hard— one could even say bending over backwards—to ensure Indonesia remains safe from the threat of an energy crisis,” Sarmuji said in his statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
This member of the DPR’s Commission VI highlighted the failure of US-Iran peace negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, which did not reach an agreement. He mentioned that during this conflict period, Bahlil Lahadalia, who is also the Chairman of the Golkar Party, has lobbied many countries to seek energy sources.
“Finding alternative energy supply sources is not easy even in normal situations. Especially in the current global conditions, when many countries are also competing for the same energy sources, the government’s swift actions become very crucial,” said Sarmuji.
“The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources even had to lobby many countries, from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, America to African countries, including Russia, to secure the national energy stock,” he continued.
The Golkar Party faction in the DPR, he added, will support the government’s policies in maintaining national energy stability. They are also pushing for the acceleration of energy diversification and strengthening domestic energy resilience.
“What the President and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources are doing is not just an ordinary response, but a strategic step to ensure Indonesia does not get trapped in a global energy crisis that could have broad impacts on the economy and public welfare,” said Sarmuji.
“We must strengthen the national energy foundation so that it is not too vulnerable to global turmoil. What the government is doing now is an important part of those efforts,” he added.
Previously, Prabowo stated that the domestic fuel supply is still sufficiently strong amid the turmoil of the US-Israel war against Iran. Prabowo emphasised that the government will not raise the price of subsidised fuel.
Prabowo conveyed this during a briefing at a government working meeting in the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4). Prabowo said the government has prepared several measures to address the threat of a fuel crisis situation in the next year.
“Some of these measures we have announced to control fuel consumption for this short term, but what I consider critical is the next year, the next 12 months. After 12 months, we will be very strong. We will explain the steps later,” said Prabowo.
