Platforms providing multi-service on-demand services, Gojek and Grab, have responded to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s statement regarding the issuance of a regulation capping online motorcycle taxi applicator fees to drivers at 8 percent, as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026.

CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), Hans Patuwo, stated that they will comply with government regulations, including the aforementioned Presidential Regulation.

“GoTo consistently complies with government regulations, including the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transportation workers as stipulated in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026,” said Hans in an official release on Friday (1/5).

GoTo, he continued, will conduct a review to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments based on the regulation.

“We will continue to coordinate with the government and all stakeholders involved, so that GoTo/Gojek can continue to provide sustainable benefits to all of society, especially Gojek driver partners and customers,” Hans stated.

Meanwhile, Grab Indonesia stated that they respect the steps taken by the government.

“Grab Indonesia respects the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto in today’s Labour Day speech,” said Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi in a written statement on Friday.

She then added, “As a long-term partner in Indonesia’s economic growth, we remain committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving public welfare.”

Grab Indonesia is currently awaiting the official issuance of Presidential Regulation 27/2026 to review and study the details of the directive further.

During the Labour Day commemoration speech, Prabowo emphasised that he wants applicator deductions for drivers not to burden them.

“Ride-hailing, the company applicators ask for 20 percent to be deposited. How can ride-hailing agree to 20 percent? How about 15 percent? How much? 10? You ask for 10? I say here I do not agree with 10 percent,” said Prabowo.

“Ride-hailing works hard. Ride-hailing risks their lives every day. [Applicator deductions] must be below 10 percent!” he added.

Prabowo then emphasised that if ride-hailing companies do not want to follow these provisions, they can leave Indonesia.

On that occasion, Prabowo also stated that he had signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation. This regulation includes work accident guarantees for ride-hailing drivers and BPJS Health.

In addition, the regulation stipulates revenue sharing below 10 percent as mentioned by Prabowo.

“What I just talked about must be given work accident guarantees, will be given BPJS health insurance as well. Earlier, the revenue sharing was 80 percent for drivers, now it becomes a minimum of 92 percent for drivers,” he revealed.
