President Prabowo Subianto has requested that online ride-hailing (ojol) platform fees be kept below 10 per cent. Gojek and Grab Indonesia have stated their readiness to coordinate with the government.

“GoTo always complies with government regulations, including the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transport workers as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026,” said the CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, Hans Patuwo, in his statement on Saturday (2/5/2026).

GoTo is currently conducting a review to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments in accordance with the regulation on platform fees. GoTo will coordinate with the government.

“We will continue to coordinate with the government and all relevant stakeholders so that GoTo/Gojek can continue to provide sustainable benefits to all of society, especially Gojek driver partners and customers,” he explained.

Grab’s Response

Grab also responded to Prabowo’s directive on online ride-hailing platform fees. The CEO of Grab Indonesia, Neneng Goenadi, respects Prabowo’s guidance.

“Grab Indonesia respects the directive conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto in today’s Labour Day speech. As a long-term partner in Indonesia’s economic growth, we remain committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving public welfare,” Neneng said in her statement.

Grab is still awaiting the official regulation regarding these platform fees. It will then conduct a review.

“Currently, we are still awaiting the official issuance of the Presidential Regulation so that we can review and study the details of the directive further. This proposed commission structure represents a fundamental change to the way digital platforms function as marketplaces,” Neneng stated.

Subsequently, Grab will also coordinate with the government. Grab stated that it strives to protect drivers and maintain affordable prices for customers.

“We will collaborate with the government and relevant stakeholders to endeavour to implement these changes, ensuring that the policy can achieve its objectives in protecting Driver Partners, while maintaining affordability for consumers and the sustainability of the industry,” she said.

“Since our first day in Indonesia, Grab Indonesia has accompanied millions of Driver Partners and SMEs in developing the digital economy, and supporting their livelihoods and those of their families, which has always been our priority,” she concluded.

Prabowo Requests Online Ride-Hailing Platform Fees Below 10 Per Cent

President Prabowo Subianto expressed his support for online ride-hailing (ojol) drivers at the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration event at Monas, Central Jakarta. Prabowo wants platform fees for ojol to be below 10 per cent.

At the May Day 2026 event at Monas on Friday (1/5), Prabowo initially posed a question to the attending labour crowd. Prabowo asked whether ojol drivers wanted the platform fee to be just 10 per cent.

“You want 10 per cent, right? I say here, I do not agree with 10 per cent. It must be below 10 per cent,” said Prabowo, greeted with cheers from the attending labour crowd.

“It’s easy for them, you sweat, they get the money, sorry about that. If they don’t want to follow us, they don’t need to operate in Indonesia,” he added.
