Global travel trends point towards cultural connections and tranquillity
Global travel trends are no longer merely about seeking popular destinations, but about experiences with emotional value, cultural connections and journeys that prioritise tranquillity and life balance. Travel trends today have evolved into part of a lifestyle and self-fulfilment. Travellers want journeys that offer stories, authentic experiences and emotional connections. Through the Autumn Fe55tival, we aim to present more meaningful autumn travel inspirations while also celebrating Golden Rama’s 55th anniversary, said Ricky Hilton, GM of Communication & CRM at Golden Rama Tours & Travel, in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. According to Marriott International’s The Intentional Traveler study, premium travellers in Asia-Pacific are increasingly prioritising journeys that focus on personalisation, wellbeing and deep experiences. He also noted growing Indonesian interest in autumn travel to Japan and South Korea, particularly to enjoy the autumn foliage, explore local cuisine and engage in deeper, more authentic cultural experiences. For Japan, the destination highlighted is Kawaguchiko to enjoy the beauty of Kawaguchiko Momiji Matsuri, an autumn festival around Lake Kawaguchi with the backdrop of Mount Fuji. A highlight is the Momiji Corridor, a tunnel of maple trees that turns red and orange. Meanwhile in South Korea, the destination is Nami Island, famed for its picturesque rows of ginkgo and maple trees turning golden yellow and red in autumn. Travellers can also enjoy the Kanas Scenic Area in the North Xinjiang region, one of the best autumn destinations in China. In autumn, the area becomes a carpet of gold, red and orange from forests surrounding a bluish-green lake.
