Global Arms Trade: The Most Sought-After American Weapons in the World
The trajectory of global weapons trade after 2025 is becoming evident from various orders agreed upon by weapons-producing nations. Data from the SIPRI Arms Transfers Database reveals which countries are poised to become the largest exporters and suppliers in the coming years. SIPRI is an independent international research institution dedicated to studying conflict, armaments, arms control, and disarmament. The organisation was founded in 1966.
According to the data, the United States has become the world’s largest weapons exporter after 2025, particularly evidenced by the high volume of orders for fighter aircraft, armoured vehicles, and artillery that various nations have placed.
Meanwhile, France, which was the second-largest weapons exporter during the 2021–2025 period, is expected to remain a major player in the global market. The country has orders for more than 180 fighter aircraft and several major naval vessel contracts.
On the other hand, several European and Asian nations are also demonstrating increased export capacity. Germany has orders for up to 34 major naval vessels, whilst South Korea stands out in exporting land combat vehicles such as tanks and armoured personnel carriers.
China is also showing significant export potential, particularly in land combat vehicles and artillery systems. The country has orders for 440 tanks and fire-support vehicles, as well as over 128 artillery units.
Nevertheless, this data remains indicative since the global weapons market is heavily influenced by geopolitical dynamics, military alliances, and shifts in defence policies across various nations.
