Glass art on display

JAKARTA (JP): Good news for glass art lovers. Harsono Samin,
the only Indonesian glass artist, will display his works at the
Jakarta Design Center in South Jakarta beginning today.

The two-week exhibition will be open to the public between
10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. everyday until Dec. 17.

Harsono, born in Medan, North Sumatra in 1960, majored in
commercial ceramics at George Brown College in Canada and glass
at the College School of Craft & Design, also in Canada.

Harsono has been holding solo exhibitions since 1981, mainly
overseas. His first Indonesian exhibition was held at Erasmus
Huis in 1995.

The current show, based on the theme Eksplorasi Bentuk dan
Estetik (Exploration of Shape and Esthetics), is sponsored by
Asri magazine. A noted healer, Prof. H.M. Hembing Wijayakusuma,
is scheduled to open the display. (sur)
