Giri Asih Hospital in Blahkiuh Village, Abiansemal District, Badung, Bali, has finally begun serving patients after its operational permit was issued as of 30 April 2026. However, for full BPJS services, residents are asked to be patient a little longer as the hospital must first undergo the accreditation process.

“The operational permit has been issued after passing verification of the Certificate of Functional Suitability, so it is now starting to operate, albeit limited to emergency services. In the next three months, the hospital, together with the Health Department, will focus on pursuing accreditation so that by October, it can fully collaborate with BPJS,” said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

He stated that technically, the facilities, medical equipment, and personnel are all ready. In addition to the BPJS scheme, the Badung Regency Government is also preparing the Additional Benefits for Healthy Badung Children programme through the Health Department to ensure services for residents.

“Technically, everything is ready, including the same plan for Suwiti Hospital in Petang to provide equivalent services. Specifically for Badung residents, we have designed additional services through the Health Department to ensure that residents’ health coverage is properly addressed,” Adi Arnawa explained.

Adi Arnawa urged all staff, from the director to specialist doctors, to take their service duties seriously to avoid any impressions of rudeness that could erode public trust. He targets Giri Asih Hospital not only to become a referral centre in Bali but also to compete at an international level as a supporter of medical tourism.

“I do not want to hear any more complaints about room services or the hospitality of staff because this hospital is prepared as the best referral. We must have appeal for medical tourism so that tourists do not hesitate to holiday in Badung, considering our service capacity which is already very promising,” he emphasised.

Director of Giri Asih Hospital Abiansemal, Ni Luh Ketut Ayu Ratnawati, acknowledged that currently, the hospital can only serve general patients and emergency category cases for national health insurance participants. For outpatient clinic to inpatient services for BPJS patients, the hospital still must wait for the accreditation process.

“Because there is no collaboration with BPJS yet, currently only the emergency category can be claimed from them; the rest are general patients. Other services such as inpatient care, outpatient treatment, clinics, and operating rooms cannot yet use BPJS,” said Dr Ayu.

This hospital, with a capacity of 100 beds, targets the accreditation process to be completed in September. The completeness of service data, such as running inpatient care, outpatient treatment, clinics, and operations for more than three months ahead, is the main requirement before applying for collaboration (PKS) with BPJS Health.

“Hopefully, by September, it will be achieved one by one. This also includes physical work still ongoing, such as adding sinks in the clinics as well as repairs to the AHU and Chiller in the operating room, estimated to be completed in August or September. Once that work is finished, we can accept surgical patients to fulfil the accreditation data. After passing accreditation, we will then apply for credentialing to BPJS to enable full services,” she explained.
