Gibran Requests BP BUMN and Danantara to Explore Fertiliser Investment in Laos
JAKARTA - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming has requested the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) and the Danantara Investment Management Agency to explore fertiliser investment opportunities in Laos after meeting with Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister of Laos Thongsavan Phomvihane.
“Earlier, the Vice President conveyed that he is requesting us at BP BUMN and Danantara to explore investment opportunities regarding downstreaming in the fertiliser sector,” said Deputy Minister of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency Aminuddin Ma’ruf at the Vice Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Aminuddin stated that Indonesia’s import value is almost 100 percent dominated by potash commodities as raw materials for fertiliser.
“To enhance cooperation in realising the President’s vision of food sovereignty and security, which is not only focused on Indonesia but also food security on a regional scale, namely Southeast Asia,” said Aminuddin.
He mentioned that the meeting between Gibran and Phomvihane also discussed investment opportunities in the state-owned construction enterprises sector, mining, and defence.
Aminuddin said that the details regarding the exploration of this investment cooperation will continue to be refined further.
“As for the investment value, how long the period, this is still a meeting between state leaders. Yes, earlier I also communicated with the Ambassador of Laos to Indonesia, we will explore to detail the points,” he said.
