Gibran Praises Pramono Anung for Free Public Transport for 15 Groups
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Vice President (VP) of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming has praised Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung’s policies on transport management in Jakarta, including free services for 15 groups of society.
“I greatly appreciate the innovative breakthrough from the Governor regarding public transport in Jakarta, which now waives fares for 15 groups. This is truly remarkable, including groups such as the elderly and the disabled; this is truly extraordinary,” Gibran said after inspecting the MRT Phase 2A project in the Harmoni area, Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Gibran also appreciated the Transjakarta service, which now reaches agglomeration areas such as Depok and Bogor.
“Thank you, Governor, for your commitment to developing the MRT and LRT,” he stated.
He said that modern public transport is one of the priorities of President Prabowo Subianto.
According to Gibran, public transport must indeed be safe, comfortable, and integrated.
Gibran also reminded that transport must be safe and comfortable for children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
“And most importantly, once again, safe and comfortable for children, women, pregnant mothers, the elderly, and the disabled,” he said.
It is known that Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has launched free public transport services for Jakarta MRT, LRT Jakarta, and Transjakarta.
However, not all members of the public can enjoy this free service; only 15 groups of society with certain requirements and possessing service cards can benefit from it.
Based on Governor’s Regulation No. 33 of 2025, the 15 groups are: students; social assistance recipients; flat dwellers; PKK empowerment team; PJLP and non-ASN employees of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government; ASN and PNS of the DKI Jakarta Province; persons with disabilities; the elderly; Indonesian Republic veterans; private sector employees with salaries less than 1.15 times the provincial minimum wage; educators and educational personnel in early childhood education; worship place guardians; Thousand Islands residents; mosquito egg monitors, youth organisation administrators, and dasawisma; as well as TNI members.
