Giant Fireball Appears at Iranian Ammunition Building Due to US Bunker Buster Bomb
An ammunition building in the city of Isfahan, Iran, was attacked by the United States using 900-kilogram bunker buster bombs. As a result of the US strike, the ammunition building was engulfed in a fierce fire. Quoted from detikNews on Tuesday (31/3/2026), the US bunker buster bomb triggered an explosion accompanied by a giant fireball followed by a series of blasts. This is evident in a video posted by US President Donald Trump via the social media platform Truth Social on Monday (30/3). According to reports from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and NDTV on Tuesday (31/3/2026), Trump uploaded the uncensored video of the explosion at the Iranian ammunition building on Truth Social without any caption. However, according to reports, the explosion video depicts a US strike launched on the outskirts of Isfahan in central Iran. In the video uploaded by Trump, a large fireball is visible, followed by a series of secondary explosions—a common occurrence when ammunition ignites. NASA’s fire-tracking satellite shows that the explosion occurred near Mount Soffeh, an area believed to house a military position in Iran. As of now, Iran has not made any official announcement regarding the bombing in Isfahan. However, an unnamed US official, quoted by WSJ, stated that “a large number of bunker buster bombs, or penetrator munitions, were used in the attack” against a large ammunition warehouse, with the aim of destroying missiles, rockets, and other explosives. For context, bunker buster bombs are specialised weapons designed to penetrate reinforced targets before detonating. This type of bomb is primarily used to attack underground military installations, reinforced bunkers, and underground nuclear sites.
