Deputy Chairman of Commission XII of the DPR from the Gerindra faction, Bambang Haryadi, admitted to feeling dismayed that there are parties pushing President Prabowo Subianto to raise fuel prices due to the US-Israel conflict with Iran and Gulf countries. Bambang Haryadi mentioned that many hoaxes have emerged recently.

This was stated by Bambang during a Hearing Meeting with the Director General of Oil and Gas, the Head of SKK Migas, the Head of BPH Migas, and the Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga. He noted that the impact of the war in the Middle East is shaking society.

“In handling the latest situation following the Iran-America war, we know that recently there have been many things shaking society, in this case creating panic,” said Bambang during the meeting at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Bambang Haryadi stated that when Prabowo committed to not burdening the people, there are parties pushing for fuel prices to be raised. He admitted to feeling dismayed by this.

“There are many hoaxes, and it’s very dismaying that there are parties or public figures who usually stand at the forefront defending the interests of the people, but when there is a President who stands firm and dares to maintain his government by deciding not to raise prices, they are instead pushed to raise them—where is their siding?” he said.

He questioned the attitude taken by those figures. Bambang Haryadi said that the parties pushing for fuel price increases are known for vocally advocating for the people’s interests.

“What’s wrong with the President when he doesn’t want to raise prices, yet there are some figures, even figures who often vocally speak out defending the people’s interests, pushing the government to raise fuel prices,” he said.

Bambang Haryadi mentioned that the issue of remaining fuel stocks for only 21 days is rampant on social media. However, he continued, the narrative on social media is a hoax and not the actual fact conveyed by state officials.

“And the proliferation of hoaxes, the scarcity issue of remaining 21 days that is not clearly conveyed. The 21 days in question is the condition of fuel in Indonesia, meaning 21 days in the sense that it’s not 21 days remaining,” said Bambang Haryadi.

“But, for example, if there is no supply at all, we can hold out for 21 days, but it turns out we must explain that supplies are running stably, even I often coordinate with Pertamina, our supply from the Strait of Hormuz is only about 15-18%,” he added.

Bambang Haryadi said that the majority of fuel supplies are sourced from outside Middle Eastern countries. He questioned why such hoaxes were created.

“Besides, we don’t source much from the Middle East but a lot from Angola, from Nigeria, even some from America. So the hoaxes created on social media spread very quickly and massively, whoever is working to create panic as if our fuel is gone,” he added.
