Novita Wijayanti assessed that the current national food security is showing positive developments. She stated that food surpluses are beginning to be achieved alongside increased absorption of farmers’ paddy and improved stock management.

“A surplus condition has been achieved. This is proof that the government’s steps in maintaining food security are running well and must continue to be maintained,” said Novita in a written statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

At the location, Novita also held direct dialogues with Bulog officials, including the Head of the Banyumas Branch Bulog, Prawoko Setyo Aji, the Head of the Bulog Gumilir Warehouse, and the Head of the Bulog Cindaga Warehouse. The dialogue was conducted to ensure that all food storage and distribution processes run optimally.

She also emphasised the importance of absorbing farmers’ paddy at prices in accordance with government regulations, namely Rp 6,500 per kilogram. According to her, this policy is a form of the state’s concern for farmers so that they continue to obtain decent profits.

“We ensure that farmers’ paddy is purchased at the price of Rp 6,500. After that, it is stored in the warehouse in safe conditions, with regular maintenance carried out so that the quality remains maintained, not damaged, and safe for public consumption,” she stated.

In addition, Novita also highlighted the importance of controlling prices in the market to keep them stable and not exploited by certain individuals for personal gain.

“The highest prices in the market must remain controlled so as not to be manipulated by parties who are only seeking personal profit. We believe that the system created by the government in managing food from upstream to downstream can run well so that food self-sufficiency can be achieved,” she asserted.

This visit is part of the commitment of the Indonesian House of Representatives together with the government in maintaining national food stability, supporting farmers’ welfare, and ensuring that the public receives safe and quality rice supplies.
