Gatari awarded ISO 9001 certificate
JAKARTA (JP): Gatari, an aircraft chartering company, was
awarded an international certificate of ISO 9001 standardization
by Det Norske Veritas of the Netherlands.
"This is the first aircraft chartering company in Asia that
has got such an international standardization certificate," the
company's president, Eddy Pramono, announced here yesterday.
The company, which mostly deals with chartering aircraft for
oil exploration and forest exploitation, won the ISO 9001
certificate for its design and for good air services.
Eddy noted that by winning the certificate, his company's
management has been internationally recognized and it will have a
sharper competitive edge.
According to Eddy, the company plans to go public in 1997 at
the latest. "For that purpose, we're currently making some
improvements. We'll change our capital structure," he said.
To date, Gatari's operations are mostly at home, serving the
oil and mining companies such as Enterprise, Maxus, Fina, Shell,
Unocal, Trend and Freeport.
The company is also currently working on contracts with
Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam.
With 12 years of operation behind it, Gatari has 41 aircraft,
consisting of 13 fixed wing aircraft and 28 helicopters.
The company has a 40 percent market share of the local
exploration and exploitation charter services.
The growth rate of its revenues averages 5 percent per year.
This year it targets revenues of Rp 60 billion (US$26 million)
and a profit of 18 percent. (13).
