JAKARTA — PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk, in collaboration with PT Mulia Boga Raya Tbk (MBR) through the Prochiz brand, held a social programme titled “Shopping Together & Special Student Educational Donations” in the Bintaro area, South Tangerang. The programme involved 100 pesantren students and disabled orphans from various pesantren and inclusive education foundations across the Jakarta-Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi region.

The activity, held during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah, was a collaboration between Garudafood and Prochiz with Sekolah Relawan (Volunteer School). The programme was designed to provide a shopping experience whilst offering material assistance to children in preparation for Eid al-Fitr.

Participants came from several educational institutions and inclusive foundations, including Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Makfufin, Yayasan Sayap Ibu South Tangerang, and Yayasan Peduli Kesejahteraan Yatim Disabilitas Islam Indonesia (YPKYDII) in Jakarta.

In addition to the joint shopping activity, Mulia Boga Raya, as a subsidiary of Garudafood through the Prochiz brand, distributed educational assistance totalling Rp30 million to the pesantren and foundations where participants study. The assistance aimed to support inclusive education facilities and infrastructure, including wheelchairs, Braille Qurans, and various learning media for people with disabilities.

Dian Astriana, Head of Corporate Communications and External Relations at Garudafood Group, stated that the activity was part of the company’s commitment to supporting education and social welfare for vulnerable groups.

“Garudafood is committed to increasing its contribution to society through beneficial and sustainable programmes. Through this ‘Shopping Together & Special Student Educational Donations’ programme, we want to provide tangible benefits and happiness to vulnerable groups, particularly in meeting Eid al-Fitr needs for 1447 Hijriah,” said Dian.

In the activity, each child received a shopping voucher valued at Rp500,000 that could be used to purchase Eid needs, such as new clothing and school supplies. The programme was expected to provide an enjoyable experience for participants in welcoming the festive season.

Rani Alfiani, Executive Director of Sekolah Relawan, felt that the activity not only provided material assistance but also experiences that could boost children’s confidence.

“We greatly appreciate the concrete steps taken by Garudafood and Prochiz, which not only provide material assistance but also give the experience of choice to special pesantren students and orphans. For them, the opportunity to choose their own Eid clothes is a form of appreciation for their independence and self-confidence,” said Rani.

According to Rani, collaboration between the private sector and social organisations like this is important for expanding support to vulnerable groups and encouraging the creation of a more inclusive social ecosystem.

Nationally, various humanitarian organisations estimate there are approximately four million orphaned children in Indonesia. Meanwhile, UNICEF estimates the number of children with disabilities in Indonesia could reach two million people. Many of them still face limited access to education and welfare.

Beyond Ramadan activities, Garudafood also implements various corporate social responsibility programmes through the Garudafood Sehati initiative, which covers environmental, educational, health, community empowerment, and humanitarian assistance fields.
