PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) has distributed humanitarian aid worth Rp300 million to assist with disaster relief efforts for flash floods and landslides in Aceh and North Sumatra. The assistance was handed over through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) North Jakarta branch and was formally received at the office of the North Jakarta Mayor on Friday, 27 February 2026.

This donation represents JICT’s support for accelerating emergency response and post-disaster recovery in the affected areas. In recognition of this contribution, JICT received two awards, one each from the PMI North Jakarta branch and the North Jakarta Mayor.

JICT Chief Executive Director Ade Hartono stated that the assistance is an expression of the company’s solidarity with communities facing difficult circumstances. “The disasters that occurred in Aceh and North Sumatra have caused significant impacts for residents. We hope this assistance can ease the burden on communities and support faster recovery,” Ade said during the aid handover ceremony in North Jakarta on Friday, 27 February 2026.

He emphasised that JICT, as part of the national logistics ecosystem, is committed to responding to emergency situations and humanitarian concerns. North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat said the donation significantly aids disaster response efforts and expressed hope that such collaborative initiatives would be further strengthened.

The PMI North Jakarta branch will utilise JICT’s donation to support various emergency response needs, including logistics provision, healthcare services, and initial recovery for affected residents. Ade noted that JICT has been implementing various social care programmes for communities in the fields of education, environment, health, and community empowerment.

In related developments, road access from North Tapanuli Regency to Sibolga City in North Sumatra remains disrupted and repair work continues despite the Christmas holiday season. The Ministry of Forestry, through its Aceh Regional Coordinator office, is continuing to accelerate disaster relief efforts including clearing timber and debris. Six districts in North Sumatra have been designated as high-risk mudik (homecoming) areas for the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year period due to incomplete recovery from disaster impacts. The Ministry of Agriculture will rehabilitate 436.99 hectares of chilli plantations in North Sumatra damaged by the floods and landslides. The Ministry of Forestry’s Directorate General for Law Enforcement has also conducted sealed operations against three legal subjects.
