Fuel Station in Jember Sealed Over Alleged Misuse of Subsidised Fuel
The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas), working with law enforcement authorities, has sealed a fuel station in Jember Regency, East Java, after discovering alleged misuse of subsidised fuel.
The temporary sealing was implemented pending the completion of investigations. BPH Migas Chief Wahyudi Anas stated that the station would remain sealed “after discovering allegations of subsidised fuel misuse,” on Sunday 15 March 2026.
Wahyudi, alongside Deputy Chair of Commission XII of the People’s Consultative Assembly (DPR) Bambang Haryadi, Jember Police Deputy Chief Kompol Ferry Dharmawan, and representatives from Pertamina Patra Niaga Malang Alam Kanda Winali, conducted an on-site inspection.
The inspection revealed significant irregularities in subsidised fuel distribution. The fuel station typically receives approximately 16,000 litres of fuel per day, yet sales data indicates that around 22,000 litres per day were being distributed. Sales transactions were predominantly conducted using recommendation letters issued on behalf of consumer sector users.
“The Jember Police Resort is conducting further investigations into alleged purchases of subsidised fuel and irregularities in transaction processes that do not comply with established regulatory governance procedures. The fuel station’s CCTV system was also inactive,” said Wahyudi.
BPH Migas has assured the public that subsidised fuel supplies in the surrounding area will remain available ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH. The fuel quota from the sealed station will be redirected to the nearest fuel stations.
“The allocated quota will be transferred to the nearest surrounding fuel stations so that the public can purchase subsidised fuel. The public need not panic and can continue to purchase subsidised fuel according to their needs, facilitated by nearby fuel stations,” Wahyudi said.
