A truck driver became frustrated after queuing for three days to board a vessel at Bandar Bakau Jaya (BBJ) Port, Serang Regency, Banten. In protest, the driver deliberately parked his lorry across the access road, blocking entry to the ship.

The incident occurred during a visit by Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi to BBJ Port on Sunday, 15 March at approximately 10:30 Western Indonesian Time. The minister had intended to inspect the queueing conditions at the port dock. Upon stepping out of his car, Purwagandhi discovered a heavy equipment lorry parked across the access road, obstructing the entry to the vessel.

“Is this bad luck or what?” the minister asked a police officer stationed at BBJ Port on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

The officer responded that the lorry driver had abandoned the vehicle. Purwagandhi pressed for clarification: “He abandoned it? Good heavens, does he mean it doesn’t fit?” he said.

Several police officers and local officials then set out to locate the driver. Within minutes, the driver was found and approached the lorry with a visibly frustrated expression.

When questioned by journalists, the driver revealed that port officials had prevented his lorry from boarding the vessel. When asked why it had been rejected, the driver deflected, requesting that the question be directed to the officials who had refused him.

“Rejected, ask whoever rejected it,” he replied tersely.

Shortly afterwards, the driver moved his vehicle to the side of the dock after being instructed by officials. It emerged that the driver had become frustrated after three days without gaining entry to the vessel, as the heavy equipment exceeded the height clearance limit of the ship.

“Rejected, don’t know who rejected it. I’ve been here for three days. I parked it that way on purpose,” he said.

After Transport Minister Purwagandhi departed BBJ Port, port officials directed the heavy equipment lorry to an alternative dock to board an LCT-type vessel.
