A homecomer who boldly walked from Bekasi towards Surabaya was found by police personnel in the Karawang area after running out of money to continue his journey. He was discovered by officers from Polres Karawang while securing the Eid homecoming traffic flow.

The man named Arifin, known to have departed from Riau, was originally a migrant worker intending to return to his hometown in Surabaya. However, due to financial constraints since arriving in Bekasi, he was forced to traverse the northern coastal route on foot while carrying his belongings.

“After examination and dialogue, it was determined that Arifin was heading to Surabaya but had no fare left at all. He had been walking from Bekasi until entering the Karawang area,” said the Head of Public Relations of Polres Karawang, Ipda Cep Wildan, on Thursday (19/3).

Swift Police Action

Upon hearing the poignant story, officers from Polres Karawang immediately provided assistance in the form of transportation facilities. The officers escorted the homecomer to the nearest bus terminal. The ticket was facilitated by Polres Karawang with a bus from the PO company destined for Surabaya, along with additional pocket money for provisions during the journey.

“We have entrusted the individual to the PO Bus crew to ensure he arrives at his destination safely. This is a form of premium service and the humanitarian side of the Indonesian National Police in Operation Ketupat, so that all people can celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families,” added Cep Wildan.

Arifin, appearing moved, expressed deep gratitude to the Polres Karawang officers before continuing his journey by bus.

“Thank you to the police officers of Polres Karawang who have helped me,” said Arifin.

Polres Karawang urges all homecomers not to push themselves if they encounter difficulties on the road and to immediately report to the nearest police post.
