The international Passenger Service Charge (PSC) at airports in Thailand is set to nearly double starting from mid-June 2026, specifically on Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The PSC for international flights will rise from 730 baht, or approximately Rp 393,000, to 1,120 baht, or approximately Rp 604,000 per person.

Meanwhile, the passenger service fee for domestic flights remains at 130 baht per person, or approximately Rp 70,000, with no changes.

For example, at airports in Malaysia, the PSC is typically deducted by airlines during ticket purchase and then paid to the airport authorities after the flight is completed, as cited from the Malaysia Airports website on Saturday, 9 May 2026.

This policy has received approval from Thailand’s Ministry of Transport. Paweena Jariyathitipong, President of Airports of Thailand (AOT), stated that the new tariff has been officially approved following its submission in February 2026.

The fee increase has raised concerns as it could potentially lead to higher prices for international flights to and from Thailand, as cited from Thaiger.

Jariyathitipong acknowledged that the airport tax hike is likely to impact airfare prices.

However, according to her, the tariff adjustment has undergone studies in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The fee increase, she added, is calculated based on current operational needs and the financial condition of the airports.

Jariyathitipong explained that the additional revenue will be used to improve airport facilities and enhance services for passengers. Tourists are expected to benefit from these facility upgrades.

She then cited study results showing that the PSC increase does not significantly affect tourists’ interest in travelling by air. Fuel prices are said to have a greater influence on airfare prices than the PSC hike.
