From a Simple Kitchen, This Resilient Woman Succeeds in Developing Her Cake Business with BRI Support
The perseverance and courage to start small have propelled Yulianti Yusup, a Lampung entrepreneur specialising in semprong cakes and dry pastries, on her business journey.
From Yulianti’s skilled hands, the business has expanded and gained recognition in the market, leading to a flood of orders. Behind this growth, financing and guidance from BRI have strengthened her steps.
Yulianti recounted that it began in her home kitchen with limited capital and family recipes, selling products to neighbours and nearby markets. Over time, maintained product quality and customer trust have driven significant increases in demand.
“I strive to use my knowledge to develop cakes that are popular with the local community. Alhamdulillah, many people like them. Usually, Ramadan and Eid become the peak order periods,” she said.
Demand for semprong cakes and dry pastries rises with societal needs for Eid dishes or gifts for relatives. This situation, she explained, causes production activities to increase dramatically compared to normal days. On the other hand, although production activities before Eid become busier, this period is the most memorable for Yulianti.
This is because, amid the busyness of fulfilling orders, she sees an opportunity to involve more local residents so that all orders can be met on time. This not only supports smooth business operations but also provides additional income for the involved community.
“Although production becomes busier, that’s when I feel the happiest because I can share opportunities with the local community to increase their income, so they can also feel the benefits. That’s what means the most to me,” said Yulianti.
She also mentioned that behind this business growth, BRI’s support has been a key factor in strengthening Yulianti’s business foundation.
Through access to microfinancing, BRI has helped increase production capacity, including purchasing raw materials and acquiring cooking equipment, allowing the business to develop more optimally.
Not only in terms of capital, BRI provides ease in transactions through digital services like QRIS. This service makes it easier for customers to make payments, while encouraging the business to become more modern and efficient.
“Even though I’m a small business owner, I’m accompanied by BRI and feel the benefits of BRI’s presence. We are taught by BRI officers about financial management and tips for developing the business. This support is the key for me to grow,” she said.
Looking ahead, Yulianti hopes her business continues to develop and reach wider markets. She is also committed to continuing to empower the surrounding community through job creation. “The hope is that this business can become more widely known and continue to provide benefits to the surrounding environment,” she added.
BRI Micro Director Akhmad Purwakajaya stated that Yulianti’s figure is a reflection of the modern Kartini. A resilient woman who drives the nation’s economy.
“With ongoing support from BRI, Yulianti’s story is proof that women-led MSME businesses managed with perseverance and supported by the right ecosystem can grow, be competitive, and provide real impact on the community’s economy,” said Akhmad in a statement on Tuesday (7/4/2026).
