“The launch of the Indonesia Digital Innovation Centre (PIDI): Hackathon and Digdaya (Empowered and Creative Digital Talent) and Indonesia-China Cross-Border QRIS on 30 April 2026,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
In that pilot test, the volume of Indonesia-China cross-border QRIS transactions reached 1.64 million transactions with a nominal value of Rp 556 billion.
“We see that the enthusiasm in this pilot test is very high. This is just sandboxing, just the trial. So hopefully when it launches, it will be even higher,” said Fili.
To date, the Indonesia-China cross-border QRIS system is supported by 24 providers from Indonesia, consisting of 16 banks and 8 non-bank institutions.
Meanwhile, from the Chinese side, this cross-border digital payment system will be supported by 19 providers.
“So basically, both from a technical and business aspect, it is ready to be implemented, so on the 30th, we will cut the ribbon,” he said.
BI hopes that payment connectivity with China will facilitate cross-border transactions, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while encouraging growth in the tourism sector in both countries.
For information, BI targets the cross-border QRIS payment system to be usable in 8 countries this year.
Currently, cross-border QRIS can already be used in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.
