Fresh Chapter in Jokowi Diploma Case as Rismon Pursues Restorative Justice
The case involving accusations of forged diplomas for Indonesia’s seventh president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has entered a new phase following Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar’s request for restorative justice (RJ).
Rismon Sianipar’s decision to pursue restorative justice mirrors the earlier steps taken by Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis. As a result of the RJ process, the Jakarta Metro Police have issued Investigation Cessation Orders (SP3) for both Eggi and Damai, halting investigations against them.
The Director of Criminal Investigation at Jakarta Metro Police, Brigadier General Iman Imanuddin, stated that Rismon’s RJ request was submitted the previous week. “Several days or about a week ago, the individual in question, along with his legal counsel, submitted a request for restorative justice facilitation to the investigating officers,” Iman told reporters on Wednesday, 11 March.
Iman noted that on Wednesday, Rismon and his legal team also visited Jakarta Metro Police headquarters to inquire about the follow-up to the RJ request. He explained that investigators, acting as facilitators, are still studying the request submitted by Rismon. “We, as facilitators, have undertaken efforts and continue to facilitate the request submitted by the suspect,” he said.
The Jakarta Metro Police have identified eight suspects in the case, divided into two clusters. The first cluster comprises five suspects: Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Damai Hari Lubis, Rustam Effendi, and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah. They face charges under Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code, Article 160 of the Criminal Code, and Articles 27a, 28(2), and related provisions of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions.
The second cluster consists of three suspects: Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, and Tifauziah Tyassuma (Dr Tifa). They face charges under Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code, Article 32(1), Article 35, Article 27a, Article 28(2), and related provisions of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law.
Investigators submitted the case file for Roy, Rismon, and Dr Tifa to the Public Prosecutor on 13 January 2026. However, prosecutors returned the file, deeming it incomplete. As a follow-up, police re-examined several witnesses in Central Java and Yogyakarta on Wednesday, 11 February, including Jokowi himself, who was questioned at Surakarta Metro Police headquarters in Solo, Central Java.
