Kunti II Street in Seminyak, Kuta District, Badung, is often flooded due to overflowing irrigation water during heavy rain. This condition is exacerbated by the position of the drainage channel crossing the street, which is higher, and the narrowing of the irrigation flow, allegedly caused by buildings in the surrounding area.

“Yesterday, the Deputy Regent saw the flooding firsthand, and five buildings were identified as obstructing the river flow. We are also designing an inspection road to make monitoring and routine cleaning easier,” said the Head of the Badung Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), I Gusti Ketut Agung Suryanegara, when confirmed by detikBali, Thursday (February 26, 2026).

The Badung Regency Government, through a joint team, has conducted on-site mitigation to follow up on the findings of Deputy Regent Bagus Alit Sucipta on Wednesday (February 25, 2026). Officers identified five buildings, consisting of two shops, two villas, and one house, to be questioned regarding the alleged violations.

“Our priority, along with the relevant departments, is to summon the building owners for clarification and to provide explanations. Next Monday, they are required to bring documents related to permits and proof of legal land ownership,” said Suryanegara.

Previously, the Badung Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) planned to prepare a technical scheme to address the elevation issue in the area. The plan is to raise the surface of Kunti II Street so that its position is no longer lower than the surrounding irrigation channels.

Kunti II Street is a frequently flooded area in Seminyak, especially during heavy rain. The water level in this location often reaches the height of an adult’s thigh, or about 50 centimeters, causing two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to stall when attempting to pass through.

When Deputy Regent Bagus Alit Sucipta visited the location, a bypass was created on the sidewalk to allow water to quickly recede from the flooded street. Water was also pumped out using a mobile pump to allow access to the area bordering Denpasar.
