Freeport Contributes Nearly Rp70 Trillion in Taxes, Royalties, and Others to the State in 2025
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Tony Wenas revealed that the company’s total contribution to the state throughout 2025 will reach approximately US$4.3 billion, or nearly Rp70 trillion.
According to him, this contribution consists of taxes, non-tax state revenues (PNBP), and dividends to MIND ID. In detail, the taxes paid amount to around US$2 billion or Rp32 trillion, PNBP at US$1.2 billion or about Rp20 trillion, and dividends of around US$1 billion or Rp17 trillion.
“Within that, there are taxes of US$2 billion or Rp32 trillion, then PNBP of US$1.2 billion or around Rp20 trillion, and also dividends paid of US$1 billion or Rp17 trillion to MIND ID,” Tony stated during a Working Meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives, quoted on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
However, the company’s operational performance in 2025 was impacted by an incident involving a wet material landslide in the underground mine at Grasberg Block Cave (GBC) Tembagapura on 8 September 2025, which resulted in seven fatalities. Consequently, all mining activities were temporarily halted until 20 October 2025, after the victim evacuation process was completed.
“So it stopped completely, and mining resumed on 20 October 2025 after all the victims were found and returned to their respective resting places,” he said.
The operational halt affected production, with copper output dropping by nearly 30% and gold production falling by more than 50%, or about 51%.
Nevertheless, Tony noted that the rise in copper and gold prices mitigated the pressure on financial performance. As a result, the company’s revenue only decreased by around 17%, with total sales reaching US$8.6 billion in 2025.
“Consequently, copper production in 2025 dropped by nearly 30% and gold production by nearly 50%, or slightly more than 50%, 51%. However, there was a significant increase in copper and gold prices, so our sales revenue only decreased by 17%. Thus, our total revenue in 2025 was US$8.6 billion,” he added.
