Fraud Masked as SPPG MBG in West Java Uncovered; 13 Victims Suffer Rp1.9 Billion Losses
Bandung – A fraud operation disguised as promises to open a SPPG MBG kitchen for free nutritious meals has been uncovered in West Java. Thirteen victims from Banjar and Bandung City suffered losses totalling Rp 1,963,000,000. The Director of General Criminal Investigation of West Java Police, Kombes Ade Sapari, said the team uncovered the case based on two reports in Bandung and Banjar in early January 2026. Four people were named as suspects and are listed on the wanted list (DPO). They are identified as YRN, who promised the victims that they could open the SPPG MBG kitchen, and OSP, who claimed to be the nephew of the Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). “The modus operandi was that YRN offered and promised to the victims in Banjar that they could open the SPPG MBG with conditions of paying Rp 75 million to Rp 150 million,” he said, accompanied by Polda West Java Public Relations Head Kombes Hendra Rochmawan at the West Java Police Headquarters, on Tuesday 19 May 2026. To persuade the victims, the suspect YRN provided fake IDs and coordinates approved by BGN, even though BGN never issued such IDs. He said the money transferred by victims went to account AN, who then distributed funds to YRN, AY and OP. BGN itself never received anything. Meanwhile, suspect OSP claimed to be the nephew of the Deputy Head of BGN Sonny Sonjaya. “The losses (to victims) are Rp 1,963,000,000. AN received Rp 400 million, YRN Rp 334 million, AY Rp 329 million and OSP, the mastermind, Rp 1 billion,” he added. The suspects face charges under Articles 492 and 468 of the Indonesian Penal Code with a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
