France deploys 8,000 police officers for G7 summit security
French National Police will deploy 8,000 officers from all units to ensure security during the upcoming June G7 Summit, the agency stated on Wednesday (27 May). The G7 Summit under French presidency will take place from 15-17 June in the French resort town of Evian-les-Bains, on the shores of Lake Geneva.
“The National Police will ensure the security and protection of the seven heads of state and their delegations. A total of 8,000 officers from all specialist units (public security, protective services, law enforcement, judicial police, intelligence, etc.) will be deployed,” according to a police statement on X on Thursday (28 May).
Security forces will also utilise drones and counter-drone measures, while border security will be tightened. G7 leaders will arrive at Geneva Airport on 15 June, after which they will be under the protection of France’s High-Level Security Service (SDLP), the statement said.
