Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) founder Dino Patti Djalal has recommended five steps to the government to accelerate the construction of 100 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity within 10 years, with the aim of strengthening energy resilience and driving national economic growth.

The recommendations were presented at a media briefing entitled "Policy, Regulatory and Implementation Recommendations for the 100 GW Solar Power Programme for Energy Resilience, Independence and Indonesia's Economic Growth," held by FPCI in Jakarta on Friday.

Dino said the comprehensive recommendations were drafted together with 19 research institutions and civil society organisations through a series of discussions since November last year.

"These recommendations will serve as a policy checklist to ensure the 100 GW solar power programme genuinely drives economic transformation, industrial development, and the strengthening of national energy resilience," he said.

The first recommendation is to establish a clear legal basis and appoint a ministry or agency responsible for coordinating, aligning, and accelerating the programme's implementation.

Second, the government needs to conduct technical, economic, and social analyses to determine priority construction locations and design business models, including appropriate cooperative schemes.

The third recommendation is to launch pilot projects within one year as an initial test of implementation readiness for the 100 GW solar power programme.

Fourth, the government is urged to optimise and harmonise various financing instruments to meet the funding requirements of the large-scale project.

Fifth, FPCI emphasised the importance of preparing domestic industrial capacity and strengthening human resources to support the sustainable production, installation, and maintenance of solar power plants.

Dino assessed that the 100 GW solar power programme has the potential to become a primary driver of green industrialisation if supported by a consistent and integrated policy framework.

The media briefing was also attended by Landscape Indonesia CEO Agus Sari, Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) Indonesia Director Tiza Mafira, and Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) CEO Fabby Tumiwa.
