Four men face abduction charges
SINGAPORE (AFP): Two Malaysians were among four men charged with the kidnapping of an Indian businessman in a subordinate court yesterday, the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) reported.
The two Malaysians were identified as Jacob Packiam and Sinnasam Marappan.
The other two suspects were Singaporeans, Rajandran Rengasamy and Ramaya Ramasamdram. Their ages were not given.
The case will come up for further mention in a week's time.
Police said Tuesday the four were alleged to have kidnapped the businessmen and demanded a ransom of S$50,000 (US$33,000).
The businessman, whose name was not mentioned by SBC, supplied Indian workers to local contractors. He was kidnapped about three days ago and kept in a flat.
Police raided the flat and rescued the businessman and arrested the four who were keeping a watch on him.
