Four Fishermen Missing After Fishing Vessel Struck by Barge in Indramayu Waters
INDRAMAYU – Four crew members of the KM Almujib fishing vessel have been reported missing in the waters surrounding Biawak Island, Indramayu Regency, following a maritime accident. The Combined Search and Rescue team is conducting extensive search operations to locate them.
Ade Dian Permana, Head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office, stated that search efforts would continue with the deployment of the KN SAR Setyaki 202 vessel departing from Cirebon Port, alongside vessel VIII 2472 from the Indramayu District Police Maritime Unit and a Rapid Response Boat from the Indramayu Marine and Fisheries Authority, on Monday 2 March 2026.
The KM Almujib, a six-gross-ton fishing vessel, sank after being struck by a barge in the waters off Biawak Island on Saturday 28 February 2026 at approximately 22:00 local time. The incident has resulted in four crew members reported missing, two found deceased, and two rescued alive.
According to Permana, the Combined Search and Rescue team has deployed to the incident location and will conduct systematic sweeping operations based on search and rescue predictions and victim dispersal mapping.
The incident occurred when the KM Almujib departed from Karangsong Port in Indramayu on Saturday 28 February 2026 at approximately 13:00 local time, bound for the waters off Biawak Island. The eight-member crew was under the command of Captain Jupri Priyanto.
