Fostering Solidarity, Golkar's DPP Distributes Thousands of Canned Rendang to Palestinians
The Masjid Syajarotun Thoyyibah Mosque’s Board of Mosque Prosperity (DKM) of the Golkar Party’s Central Executive (DPP Partai Golkar) reaffirmed its humanitarian commitments by staging a programme titled ‘Ramadan Road Show for Palestine.’ The event, held on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, featured a distinguished guest, the Grand Imam of Palestine. The programme was not only a moment of friendship but also a moment for concrete humanitarian assistance. The DPP Golkar, through the DKM Masjid Syajarotun Thoyyibah, handed over aid comprising 3,000 ready-to-eat rendang cans. The choice of canned rendang was deemed strategic due to its long shelf life and practicality for distribution to Palestinians facing a hunger crisis. In his remarks, the Grand Imam of Palestine expressed deep happiness at the warm reception by the Indonesian people. He said that the support shown by Indonesia is not merely diplomatic rhetoric but love felt directly by the Palestinian people. ‘I am very happy and moved to visit Indonesia. The love of the Indonesian people for Palestine is not something we merely hear; we feel it in reality. My presence here proves that ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) and humanitarian solidarity are alive and strong,’ he said. He also emphasised that the moral support and humanitarian assistance from Indonesians provide significant encouragement for the Palestinian people to endure. ‘This aid is not just food but a message of brotherhood and hope. We do not feel alone. Indonesia is always in the hearts of the Palestinian people,’ he added. Meanwhile, the chairman of the DKM Masjid Syajarotun Thoyyibah, Dr. Dian Assafri Nasa’i, SH, explained that the agenda is part of a broader vision to make the mosque a hub of civilisation and humanitarian diplomacy. He said that the role of the mosque in the modern era must transcend ritual worship. ‘A mosque is not only a place of ritual worship but also a centre for the nurturing of a community that generates global social concern. The presence of the Grand Imam of Palestine among 284 santri today is a real historical and spiritual lesson. We want the santri to understand the meaning of struggle, steadfastness, and cross-border brotherhood,’ said Dr. Dian.
