Jakarta – Foshan Polytechnic, a vocational higher education institution in Guangdong Province, China, has established educational collaboration with three renowned Indonesian universities, in events held earlier this week. The three universities are Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Hasanuddin University (Unhas), and Universitas Bakrie. The cooperation between Foshan Polytechnic and Unpad’s Vocational School will include student exchanges, faculty exchanges, and research. The partnership will support joint curriculum development and resources in smart manufacturing and green energy. ‘We recognise that China is a highly developed country, particularly in manufacturing and industry, and we look forward to this collaboration being established in the near future,’ said Arief S. Kartasasmita, Rector of Unpad. Meanwhile, the collaboration between Foshan Polytechnic and Unhas is being forged through a three-way partnership involving Guangdong Brunp Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese battery-supply company. The three parties will cooperate in applied research, industry curriculum development, and enhancing graduates’ competencies relevant to the needs of the international job market. Separately, the collaboration between Foshan Polytechnic and Universitas Bakrie will focus on the field of electronic commerce. The partnership includes training-based e-commerce development and curriculum development, talent development programmes linking the Indonesian and Chinese digital economies, capacity-building for teaching staff through seminars and training, and academic and industry exchanges on e-commerce. Co-operation in vocational education between the two countries has strengthened in recent years. Not only with these three universities, Foshan Polytechnic has previously cooperated with several other Indonesian higher education institutions, including IPB’s Vocational School (Sekolah Vokasi IPB) and the Politeknik Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Industri (STMI), overseen by the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia.
