Former Transport Minister Budi Karya Summoned by Corruption Commission for Third Time regarding DJKA Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled a third examination of former Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi (BKS) for Monday, 2 March 2026. This summons concerns alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Transport Ministry.
Initial examination of Budi Karya was scheduled for 18 February, but he failed to appear, citing a prior scheduling conflict. He also failed to appear for the scheduled examination on 25 February.
“It is correct that witness BKS was scheduled this morning for examination by the investigators in the DJKA case,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The KPK believes Budi Karya’s testimony is important in this case given his status as the ministry leader when the alleged wrongdoing occurred. The KPK hopes that Budi Karya will comply with the summons to clarify the case.
“As Mr BKS was serving as Transport Minister at the time of the alleged offence, his testimony is certainly needed by investigators to clarify the case across several locations,” said Budi.
The KPK has yet to confirm whether Budi Karya will comply with the summons. The KPK continues to await his attendance for questioning in his capacity as a witness.
“So we are together awaiting the witness’s appearance,” Budi said.
The DJKA case came to light following an undercover operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Central Java Regional Class I Railway Engineering Centre of the DJKA Transport Ministry. The Centre has since been renamed as the Semarang Regional Class I Railway Engineering Centre.
