Jakarta – The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has revealed that former Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas requested a rescheduling of his examination, which was originally scheduled for today (12 March 2026). Yaqut was scheduled to be examined as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the hajj quota at the Religious Affairs Ministry (Kemenag) today.

“We are still awaiting a formal letter if he is indeed requesting a postponement. This should of course include the reasons for the rescheduling request,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).

Only Yaqut’s legal representatives appeared at the KPK’s Red and White Building today. They conveyed the request to postpone the examination of their client.

One of Yaqut’s lawyers, Melissa Anggraini, stated that she came to the KPK to confirm the summons letter sent by the KPK to her client. Melissa expressed concern that the letter was sent whilst the pre-trial proceedings were still ongoing.

“We are verifying the KPK letter. Because yesterday during the ruling, Pak Asep (Deputy for Prosecution and Execution at the KPK) stated that they would only schedule the summons afterwards. We also question the summons letter dated 6 March 2026, given that the pre-trial proceedings are still ongoing,” said Melissa.

The KPK summoned Yaqut one day after his pre-trial motion was dismissed. Judge Sulistyo Muhammad Dwi Putro of the South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) rejected the pre-trial petition filed by former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. The ruling in case number 19/Pid.Pra/2026 was delivered on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

“The petition by the petitioner for pre-trial review is rejected in its entirety,” said Sulistyo on Wednesday (11 March 2026).
