Jakarta – Former Religion Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas attended the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters at the Red-White Building in Jakarta on Thursday 12 March 2026 in response to a summons as a suspect in an alleged hajj quota corruption case.

Yaqut was scheduled for questioning in connection with alleged corruption related to Indonesia’s hajj quota allocation. According to monitoring, Yaqut arrived at the KPK offices at 13.00 WIB, accompanied by three security personnel and his legal representative Melissa Anggraini.

“I am here to respond to the KPK investigator’s summons, in the name of Allah,” Yaqut stated.

“This is my opportunity to provide a statement,” he added, dismissing suggestions of any postponement.

When asked about the possibility of detention that day, Yaqut responded with a smile rather than seriously, saying “Ask yourself that question.”

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that this marked the first time Yaqut would be questioned in his capacity as a suspect.

“Yes, today Thursday (12 March), investigators have scheduled questioning of YCQ in connection with the alleged criminal offence of corruption related to the hajj quota for Indonesia’s 2023-2024 hajj pilgrimage,” Budi stated.

“The questioning of YCQ will be conducted in his status as a suspect,” he added.

Budi indicated that the questioning would take place at the KPK’s Red-White Building headquarters, expressing confidence that the former minister would cooperate and honour the summons.
