Former Pertamina International Shipping Chief Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison; Will Appeal Decision?
Jakarta — Yoki Firnandi, former Director of Pertamina International Shipping, has spoken out following the court’s verdict. Yoki was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment and fined Rp 1 billion.
The verdict relates to a corruption case concerning crude oil and refinery product management at PT Pertamina (Persero), its subholding, and contractors during the period 2018-2023. Presiding Judge Fajar Kusuma Aji issued sentences against three of nine defendants.
“The court sentences the defendant Yoki Firnandi to 9 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp 1 billion, which must be paid within one month and may be extended for a maximum of one additional month from the date the verdict becomes final,” said Fajar during the verdict hearing at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) of the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Yoki expressed deep disappointment with the verdict, stating he will not surrender in the proceedings. He is still considering whether to file an appeal. “Yes, we’ll think about it, but to be honest, we are very disappointed,” he said when asked about filing an appeal following the hearing on Friday, 27 February 2026.
“We will continue to fight, we will continue to fight,” he added.
Yoki characterised the trial as a “theatrical performance.” He stated that he worked for Pertamina as a professional, contributed significantly to the company and provided profits, yet was convicted despite this.
“This is, in my view, an extraordinary theatrical performance. We worked professionally at a state-owned enterprise, contributed greatly to the company, generated profits, and suddenly whilst carrying out our duties, we can easily be convicted with state losses appearing. Yet not a single fact from the trial was considered in this manner. So what kind of justice is this?,” he concluded.
