Former Official Who Once Swore on the Quran That He Didn't Sell SPPG Points, Now a Suspect in MBG Corruption Case
Jakarta, VIVA – Statements made by former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, denying his involvement in the alleged practice of selling Nutritional Service Provision Unit (SPPG) points, have resurfaced and are drawing public attention.
A video containing these statements has been widely circulated on social media after the Attorney General’s Office named him a suspect in the alleged corruption case related to the management of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
In the video, which has gone viral, Sony emphasizes that the implementation of the MBG program should be carried out openly and be subject to public oversight. He believes that all activities related to SPPG should be conducted transparently so that the public can monitor the program’s progress, including through various social media platforms.
When responding to rumors about the alleged sale of SPPG points, Sony firmly denied the accusations. He even expressed his willingness to swear on the Quran to prove that he had never engaged in the alleged practice.
“I swear to God, I never sold any points. I said, please bring a Quran and place it on my head. I dare to swear,” said Sony Sonjaya, as quoted from a video on Instagram @feedmedsos, Thursday, June 4, 2026.
“Am I supposed to come to the location every day to make a report? My job is verification. Now it’s time for me to step down, and thankfully, the suspects are starting to emerge,” he added.
These statements are now being highlighted again in light of the ongoing investigation by the Attorney General’s Office regarding the alleged corruption in the management of the MBG program. The public is now linking these past statements with Sony’s current legal status as a suspect.
The Attorney General’s Office is Investigating Alleged Corruption in the MBG Program
In the latest development, the Attorney General’s Office has named several former BGN officials as suspects in the alleged corruption case related to the management of the Free Nutritious Meal program for the 2025–2026 period.
In addition to Sony Sonjaya, investigators have also named former Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, and former Deputy Head of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung, as suspects.
