Jakarta – Former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas attended questioning by the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) as a suspect in a corruption case involving the allocation of hajj quotas.
Yaqut arrived at the KPK’s Red and White Building at approximately 1.05 pm. He was accompanied by his legal team as he responded to the KPK’s summons.
“I attended the KPK investigator’s invitation, bismillah,” Yaqut told journalists at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Yaqut provided few comments to the media. He merely denied that he had requested a postponement of the questioning.
“There was no request for postponement,” he clarified.
The KPK had previously announced that it had scheduled questioning of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas for Thursday, 12 March 2026. Yaqut was to be questioned in his capacity as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case.
“Correct, on Thursday, 12 March 2026, investigators scheduled questioning of YCQ (Yaqut Cholil Qoumas) in the matter of alleged corruption related to hajj quota allocation for the administration of Indonesia’s hajj pilgrimage in 2023-2024,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Budi explained that the questioning of Yaqut would be conducted at the KPK’s Red and White Building.
“The questioning of YCQ will be conducted in his status as a suspect. The questioning will take place at the KPK’s Red and White Building,” he said.
The anti-corruption agency, according to Budi, hoped that Yaqut would cooperate in responding to the investigator’s summons.
“We believe that the person in question will cooperate and will respond to this summons,” Budi concluded.
