The Indonesian National Police Headquarters is being urged to conduct a forensic examination on a signature suspected to have been forged in a document releasing indigenous land rights belonging to Isaak Semuel Boekorsjom, a member of the indigenous community in Southwest Papua. Isaak stated that the forged signature was used by the perpetrator to apply to the Southwest Papua Land Office, which then issued a Certificate of Ownership (SHM). “I request that the Polri Forensic Laboratory conduct a forensic laboratory examination on the signature contained in the land rights release document dated 21 November 2011. Compare that signature with my genuine original signature specimen,” said Isaak, accompanied by his legal representative Lutfi S Salossa, after submitting the request letter to the Polri Forensic Laboratory, quoted on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. In addition to his own, the perpetrator is also alleged to have forged the signature of the witness identified as Semuel Saul Laimeheriwa in the land rights release document. Isaak hopes that the forensic examination of his and Samuel’s signatures will subsequently serve as authentic evidence in the legal process he is pursuing. “As a comparison for Puslabfor, I have attached the 2011 land rights release statement letter which contains the forged signature. The signature in that document appears as if I am releasing my rights. Then I have attached my original signature specimen as a comparison for the forensic examination,” said Isaak. “We have also attached the witness Semuel Saul Laimeheriwa’s signature specimen as a comparison, because his signature is also suspected to have been forged in that document. In the trial as recorded in the Sorong District Court Decision No. 121/Pdt.G/2023/PN Son on page 70, the witness at that time firmly stated that the signature on the 2011 document was not his and he knew nothing about the document,” he continued. Briefly, Isaak explained that the indigenous land was received from his parents through a grant in 1998. The land rights release document of Harun Kalagison (Isaak’s parent) was officially registered in 2002 at Malaingkedi Ward and East Sorong District. However, in 2011, Rosina Boekorsyom, Isaak’s biological sister, presented a land rights release document. The document suspected of forging Isaak’s signature was never registered, as stated in an official letter from Malaingkedi Ward and North Sorong District (2024).
